- About Robert Coppola Schwartzman:
Robert Coppola Schwartzman is an American filmmaker, director, screenwriter, actor, producer and musician. Schwartzman is best known for directing Dreamland, The Unicorn, and The Argument, acting in his cousin Sofia Coppolas’ film The Virgin Suicides, and starring in The Princess Diaries. He is also the frontman & founder of the platinum- selling rock/pop band Rooney and composed the score for his cousin Gia Coppola’s film Palo Alto with music artist Dev Hynes of Blood Orange and the opening song for the Iron Man animated series.
He has also Executive Produced a number of leading film projects including Lost Transmissions, starring Simon Peg and Juno Temple, and Gia Coppola’s Mainstream. In 2018, Robert co-founded Utopia Media, a company that supports the entire life cycle of the filmmaking and distribution process, from production and acquisitions to marketing and sales. Utopia was created as a filmmaker-first company that offers an extended array of services through a growing team and extensive roster of partnerships. Since its inception, Utopia has launched celebrated titles such as Mickey & the Bear, Bloody Nose, Empty Pockets and House of Cardin and plan to release Del Close: For Madmen Only and Shiva Baby, among others, in 2021.
In 2020, Variety announced the launch of Altavod, a platform created by filmmakers for filmmakers to distribute their movies how they want, where they want, when they want. Altavod provides the technology and the tools for any filmmaker to quickly launch a marketing page where they can build their brand, convert customers, stream their content and make money. Altavod puts the power of digital distribution in the hands of filmmakers and supports outreach to global audiences. Early film release success stories on Altavod include the Steph Curry-produced Jump Shot, among others.
