Concluding 2016, NFMLA invites families to enjoy three fun-filled screening programs dedicated to well crafted family friendly content that will appeal to both children and adults. Kicking off the evening we have a series of animated films that give life to dust bunnies and animals, share life lessons about trust, hope and forgiveness, topped with an abundance of silly antics.
For the second program, we will be screening seven fun short-form family movies that are part of Disney Channel’s “Free Period.” Exclusively available on Disney Channel Digital Platforms, these engaging and positive stories are told by a group of diverse, emerging writers, directors and producers. Claire Mccabe, the Executive Director of Alternative Programming and Content Development for Disney Channel, will be co-moderating the Q&A with the filmmakers after the program!
The third program includes inventive stories about family bonds, pint-sized cowboys and Indians, a testy king on his birthday and an adventure set in the future with a female hero who rally’s her friends to save the world.
Closing the evening, our diversity initiative, NFMLA InFocus presents a collection of powerful stories from the creative cinematic community of the Middle East. A young boy’s understanding of death, the effects of war on a lonely soldier, and the odd coupling of an Indian and Pakistani that work long days together are just a few of the films shown. Filmmakers and talent will be in attendance and participating in the audience Q&A led by Danny DeLillo.
