NewFilmmakers Los Angeles (NFMLA) offers two categories of prizes for all entries to the festival.
1. Sony Pictures Entertainment Innovative Filmmaking Award (Juried Quarterly Award) – One (1) overall Sony Pictures Entertainment Innovative Filmmaking Award Winner of a Sony Action Cam and waterproof case (valued at $350).
Films in competition consist of all films screened at the NFMLA festival within that annual quarter. Quarters are defined as January – March (Winner announcement early April), April – June (Winner announcement early July), July – September (Winner announcement early October), October – December (Winner announcement early January). This includes features and shorts of any format.

2. Monthly Audience Award – One (1) overall Audience Award Winner of a Division Camera Rentals $750 Rental Certificate (valued at $750).
Films in competition consist of all films screened at the NFMLA festival within that monthly screening. This includes features and shorts of any format. Films will be judged and voted for based on a one minute clip from the film. Filmmaker must provide a one minute clip in order to be eligible to win. Voting will be available on the NewFilmmakers website only.
