The Producers Guild of America proudly presents the awards for the 3rd annual Producers Guild Weekend Shorts Challenge in association with NewFilmmakers LA on Saturday, November 9th at the AT&T Center in Downtown LA. The event will screen the top 10 short films (3-5 minutes in length) and present prizes to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners. The top 3 winners will receive gift certificates for rentals and services from top industry companies, including Panavision, Universal Studios, Deluxe, Cinelease, Alternative Rentals Digital Cinema, EVS, Movie Magic, Smart Post Sound and Studio System. Each winner will also be the beneficiary of a mentorship from celebrated PGA producers Darla Anderson, Bruce Cohen, or Lydia Dean Pilcher.

The Producers Guild Weekend Shorts Challenge was established to help support talented emerging producers with this year’s contest honoring the legacy of Laura Ziskin. Winning entries successfully incorporated specific setting, themes and elements provided at the beginning of the 2-day production weekend. The films were judged by celebrated producers and entertainers Sean Young, Paula Wagner, Laura San Giacomo, Tim Gibbons, James Franco, and Donald Deline.

The event will be hosted by Vance Van Petten, National Executive Director of the PGA, with the screening & awards presentation to be followed by a cocktail reception.
