Lauren Muniz

Lauren Muniz has been in the role of programs assistant at NewFilmmakers Los Angeles since joining the organization in 2022. Hailing from Whittier, CA, she completed her studies in the CSUDH film program. As a devoted Chicana, she takes immense pride in discovering stories within her community that authentically capture the multifaceted essence of the Latinx diaspora.

Before changing her career aspirations, she pursued a degree in Sociology and gained experience in diverse child and youth care environments. While working as a behavioral therapist, she realized the significant impact of media on her clients’ progress. This realization motivated her to venture into a fresh career journey within the realms of film, television, and media.
